A hundred years, and more ago,
The farmers rose their rights to take;
They were the first to strike a blow
For freedom's and for country's sake.
Colonial sires, your path we tread,
Against opression's tyrant hand;
Our bloodless battle shall be led,
Till justice reigns throughout the land.
We battle for the common good,
Our flag in freedom's cause unfurled,
As when "the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world."
